What is the Forum?

The Town Forum is a non-political, non-aligned, open, results-orientated forum which exists to assist the successful vitality, viability and sustainable growth of Falmouth. It brings together representatives of groups and organisations in the town – from the commercial, charitable and statutory sectors, and from community groups – to talk about strategic and current issues, share knowledge, and to explore and help deliver projects to the benefit of the future of the town. Being non-aligned, it has the freedom to explore ideas in ways which other organisations cannot.

Or, more briefly: Falmouth Town Forum brings together a group of people who believe this town is a unique and special place. As a collective of non-political individuals - representing commercial, charitable and civic groups within the community - we work and share together for the benefit of Falmouth's future.

It meets regularly in meetings which are open to the public.

The Forum has no power but lots of experience. It therefore works closely with the Town and County Councils, addressing issues which the hard-pressed councillors rarely get time to debate, indulging in some blue sky thinking and developing longer term ideas.

It has recently been working on subjects such as:
  • The Falmouth and Penryn Community Plan
  • The Local Development Framework for Falmouth and Penryn
  • Ways of providing greater public access to the waterside
  • Traffic management
  • Tourism
  • Youth issues
  • Plans to make Falmouth and Penryn Cycling Demonstration Towns
